What to Write When You’re Out of Ideas

To be completely honest with you, I’m loving and hating my current goal of publishing daily. It has been inspiring and tiring; exciting and frightening. I am glad I’m doing it, but I do seem to find myself butting heads with the dreaded writers block more often than I like. So this article is half for me and half for you — here’s a refresher on the general types of things you can write about for when your brain is refusing to give you any fresh ideas.

Teach a skill

You know how to do something, so why not tell your readers about it? Whether it’s a full on how-to or something a bit more conversational, impart your knowledge through your words. Even if you don’t feel like you’re qualified to teach whatever it is, trust me, you should write about it. Even if big blogger so-and-so has already written on the subject your perspective is still valuable. Different approaches and different ways of writing things work for different people, so don’t hold back just because someone has already covered the topic well.

Offer motivation

One thing that is always in demand is motivation. So write something helpful and inspiring to help your readers (and perhaps you, by extension) to make the most of…
